Evergreen Washelli’s Second Annual Hot Rods, Hot Dogs & Motorcycles was co-hosted by our Bothell funeral home and the First Lutheran Church in downtown Bothell on a beautiful Saturday, June 27, 2009. Hot Dogs & Hot Rods is a cars, bikes, community picnic and safety fair.

Event organizers Roger Steinke from the church and Dale Amundsen, Washelli’s community relations coordinator, got the word out to car enthusiasts from around the area. Classics, vintage, hot rods, specialty, customs and motorcycles came together for a very hoppin’ scene!

The event featured lots of “cruisin’ music” as well. Donations of canned food benefitted the HopeLink food bank’s End Summer Hunger program.

Our thanks go to First Lutheran Church, The Bothell Police Department, and The Bothell Fire Department for their help in bicycle safety fitting, child car seat demonstrations, child fingerprint cards, and gun trigger locks.

Flag Day 2009

Flag Day 2009

On June 14th, 2009, Evergreen Washelli celebrated Flag Day, which commemorates the adoption of the United States flag in 1777.

Skip Dreps of the Veterans Memorial Cemetery Board writes, “The last time I donated a flag to the Veterans Cemetery was more than twenty years ago. That American flag was presented to me in memory of a fallen brother. I carefully marked his name in the margin with the date he died, and every year I’ve wondered which one was his as I passed. Each time I walk through that Avenue of Colors I hold my salute and smile thinking my brother’s flag is waving back.”
