Minnie Lee King was born to the union of Mattie and Steward Houston on January 24, 1928 in Holly Springs Mississippi. She was the youngest of 16 children. She met and married Sam H. King in 1946 they with their family moved to Seattle in early 1950's. She worked various jobs of housekeeping and worked in the laundry department of Washington Convalescent Center where she was welt thought of, loved and respected by her co-workers and all who knew her. Many times she went out of her way do special favors for the patients and showed exceptional concern for them. She enjoyed back yard barbeques and celebrations with her family and friends. She was able to go on a boat cruise to Mexico and greatly enjoyed the experience
She and her husband united with the Greater Mount Baker Baptist Church where her husband served as a dedicated deacon until illness incapacitated him. Mrs. King was a faithful and trusted member of the usher board. She enjoyed her service in the Lord.
Minnie was the mother of one daughter and seven sons and also raised several God-children and foster children as her own. Her children are Lula Montgomery, RH King (Gloria), Sammy King, Perseal King (Sandra), Cleveland King (Yvonne), Roosevelt King (deceased), Murray King and James Houston (Neicy). She was also lovingly considered mom by her granddaughter Nina Price-Malone whom she raised as her own.
Mrs. King was preceded in death by her husband Sam King and her son Roosevelt King. She also was the last living of her fifteen siblings. She also leaves a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren as well as cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
So very many people are saddened by her leaving but continue to love her.
Funeral Information
A funeral service for Minnie will be held Saturday, June 9, 2012, 11:00AM, Greater Mt. Baker Baptist Church, 2425 S. Jackson Street, Seattle, 98144. There will be a time of viewing at the church from 9:00AM until service time.
