In Loving Memory
Lawrence E. Lattin 1947-2012
Larry Lattin was born to Helen and Robert Lattin on May 13, 1947. He was a caring and loving father, son, brother, extraordinary friend to many, and a great character.
An entrepreneur and excellent businessman, Larry began his career buying beautiful antique yachts and restoring them to their former grandeur. He operated several large yachts and working ships and formed two prominent marine businesses, Northern Marine Industries and Lake Union Boat Repair, a shipyard. He was well known and respected in the boating world throughout his life.
In the early 1980’s he started working in the burgeoning wireless telecommunications field and founded and managed CLC Communications. This was a successful business that was eventually purchased by the Motorola Company, and was one of the companies that served as the foundation of NEXTEL Communications. Many of his friends became investors with him, and he was very pleased to share his good fortune with them when the company was sold.
Larry was a passionate collector of boats, cars, motorcycles, and other fine collectables and objects of art. As a knowledgeable skipper, he immensely enjoyed boating around the Northwest, and spent many years cruising the San Juan Islands and Canadian waters.
Larry was greatly loved by his family and his large circle of friends, and will truly be missed by all. He was a member of Seattle Yacht Club, Washington Arms Collectors, and Seattle Skeet & Trap Club.
Larry is survived by his daughter Lauren Lattin, mother Helen Lattin, brother Terry Lattin, sisters Donna Lattin and Beverly Ivey; and many nieces and nephews.
