Erik Klepp
June 26, 1934 - January 20, 2012
In Loving Memory
Erik Klepp, age 77, passed away at his Seattle home on January 20, 2012.
Erik was born June 26, 1934 to Norwegian immigrants Erik O. Klepp (shipbuilder) and Aasta P. Klepp and raised in Rainier, Oregon. After graduating Rainier Union High School in 1952, Erik studied Economics at Willamette University before serving in the U.S. Army. Erik retired in 1992 after 30 years with the U.S. Department of Labor and Washington State Employment Security, with his most recent position being Supervisory Occupational Analyst. Erik was recognized by his colleagues and clients for his outstanding performance and professionalism. After his retirement he received numerous letters from his clients acknowledging his exceptional service: “I cannot recall of anyone who has done the job better than Erik: he has always been prompt in his dealings with everyone, courteous, and most professional” and “always more than eager and willing to do all within his power to serve the needs of those he serves.”
Erik was a World War II history buff and enjoyed following his favorite sports (basketball, baseball and football—and was especially pleased to see the Ducks win the 2012 Rose Bowl--the first Rose Bowl win in his lifetime!) He was a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, where he attended many dances and New Year’s Eve celebrations with wife Sandy and friends. Erik will be fondly remembered as a patient and devoted father and for his quiet and thoughtful demeanor. While occasionally a “stubborn Norwegian”, he rarely complained and always maintained his composure.
Erik is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sandy; his daughter Tanya Morell (Scott), granddaughters Sabine and Elise, his loyal Pug (Tasha) and numerous nephews, nieces and friends. Preceding his passing were sisters Thelma Ruff, Elsie Hall and Carol Allworth. To keep with Erik’s wishes, there will not be a formal service. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society, the Seattle Animal Shelter or a charity of your choice.
