Elaine “Marian” ILDHUSO
Peacefully went home to be with her heavenly Father on March 6, 2010. Marian was born on March 29, 1923 to Holgar and Ragnhild Kvinnesland in Tysver, Norway. Her family moved to the United States and she grew up in Poulsbo, Washington where she lived on a farm. Marian graduated from North Kitsap high school and subquently worked for many years at Kitsap County Medical. She was an active person who loved the outdoors. Marian was an avid skier and member of a ski club at Stevens Pass called the Bremerton Ski Cruisers. She loved to vacation in Sun Valley. Marian could be seen walking the streets of her Ballard neighborhood almost daily through most of her life. Marian met the love of her life, Gunnar, at a dance at the Sons of Norway Club in Seattle. She tapped him on his shoulder, asked him for a second dance and they have been a loving and devoted couple ever since. They married on October 20, 1957 and celebrated fifty-one wonderful years together. Together Marian and Gunnar raised three children in Ballard. Being a fisherman’s wife meant much of this responsibility was hers. She was a wonderful and loving mother who devoted her life to her children. Marian enjoyed spending time with family skiing, fishing, camping, picnicking, traveling, and dancing. Her grandchildren were loved and cherished by her. A strong Christian who loved and served the lord, Marian’s faith has enriched all of our lives.
Marian leaves behind not only a wonderful positive legacy for her family and friends, but her husband, Gunnar; son Gunnar Jr. (Heidi); daughter, Karen Klepper; daughter, Randi Fattizzi; brother, Robert Kvinnesland; sister, Myrtle Jodry; and seven grandchildren, Gunnar III, Helle, Kiana, Selea, Karisa, Dominic and Allie. Marian was preceded in death by her sisters, Lorraine Kvinnesland, Myrtle Mae Kvinnesland, Josephine Zderic, and Francis Engelstone, and nephew Eric Engelstone.
Marian will be remembered by her family and friends as someone who was always fun loving, kind, patient, unselfish and humble. She was our role model.
Bless you loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. We love and miss you.
