Cremation: Not Just a Can of Beans

Is cremation a commodity? Is there a difference one provider and another? At Evergreen Washelli, you will know in whom you are placing your trust. Here, you receive the peace of mind knowing that from the time your loved one is entrusted to us, until the time they are placed into a niche or other permanent memory place, or returned to your family, your loved one never leaves our care.

There are several factors that should be considered when selecting a cremation provider. Many providers today will never have your loved one in their facility. They are simply outsourced. Do you know what questions you should be asking? For example:

Who is your trust being given to?

  • Will the person you are talking to ever have your loved one in their care?
  • Do they own and operate their own crematory?
  • Can you visit their crematory and see their processes and procedures?
  • Can you trust their methods of transportation, identification, and overall care?
  • Are you certain the cremated remains returned to you are those of your loved one?

We have owned and operated our own crematory located on our Aurora property for more than eighty years. This allows us complete control of all processes and procedures. As we continue to grow, we maintain the standards that have made us experts in the industry. All cremations are individually performed, and our crematory is available to be inspected or toured at a moment's notice.

It is important that families are confident the cremated remains we are returning to them are indeed those of their loved ones. We encourage you to gather the necessary information in order to make an informed decision.

Hope for the Holidays

Washelli Columbarium:

Evergreen Washelli's Indoor Columbarium is located on the east side of Aurora Avenue. Built in 1920, this building was to be a monument to beauty, elegance, and had an environment that "provides seclusion for peaceful recollection."

Indoor columbaria are a beautiful and convenient option for memorialization. The setting in a columbarium is serene, prestigious, and comfortable, a nice reprieve from the elements. This ensures a reflective and peaceful visiting environment. Many families will choose a cluster of niches in a columbarium to maintain the final resting place of their relatives in one location. Feature niches allow for a family to customize a niche by placing personal items, larger decorative urns, or multiple family members in the same spot. A columbarium allows for many options to memorialize even if the remains are elsewhere.
