Dad was born on December 1, 1927 to John and Hilda Selin in Seattle, Washington. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1945 and then entered the US Navy, but also attended Yale University in his freshman year of college and later the University of Washington.
He married his true love, Barbara Halone in 1950, and being blessed with more than 59 years of marriage, they had six children, twenty-eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Dad’s career was in sales of commercial building materials, an area in which he found much success and which he thoroughly enjoyed. Dad built a reputation as being a man of honor and honesty. He also was known for his wonderful sense of humor, his intelligence, his patriotism and his tender concern for people. He was a lifelong member of the Apostolic Lutheran Church where he served for many years as chairman of the congregation.
He loved to spend time with his family at his retreat on Samish Island. His whole life revolved around caring for and loving his family. He and mom were always known for their devotion to each other and to their Lord Jesus Christ. He has left behind his loving wife and family and many dear friends, but also treasured memories and the lasting legacy of his selfless example and sacrificial love. While we grieve his passing, we know he is in heaven and are so very grateful for having been forever blessed by knowing him.
Ed is survived by his wife Barbara, and children Bruce Selin & wife Carol, of Snohomish, WA, Karen Impola and husband Dave, of Everett, WA, J. Ted Selin and wife Diana, of Bothell, WA, Dan Selin and wife Vicki of Kenmore, WA, Linda Loutsis and husband Danny, of Bothell, WA and Jon Selin and wife Suzy of Snohomish, WA, 28 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and his sister Elma Johnson, of Burlington, WA .
